About Us

Clutha District Libraries is the collective name given to our five community libraries located in Balclutha, Lawrence, Milton, Owaka, and Tapanui.

Each of our libraries are staffed by friendly locals providing an inclusive and welcoming “one stop shop” for you, your family, and the wider community.

From babies through to seniors, we have something for everyone! With fun and creative pre-school programmes, after school activities, and holiday programmes available for children; our team can also help you find information, be part of an interest group, assist you with technology, preserve your local history, or simply provide a cosy quiet space to read or study.

If you're unable to visit your local community library, we also offer an extensive Digital Library that you can access from home to read, listen, watch, learn, and create.

Using your free library membership card, you can enjoy over 800,000 eBooks, 120,000 eAudiobooks, and 7,500 movies/TV shows. You can also access more than 20 quality websites that provide creative and fun learning activities, genealogy research help, job seeking skills and tips, and community funding information.

And finally, we have over 50,000 books, magazines, DVDs, jigsaws, and newspapers for you to enjoy!
