Summer Reading Challenge

The Clutha District Libraries Summer Reading Challenge encourages and promotes reading. It is free, and open to people of all ages in the Clutha District. Held annually from December to January there are fun challenges and prizes available throughout. Keep an eye on our website for more details at the beginning of summer when this comes around!

Pre-School Storytime

Reading and storytelling with babies and children promotes brain development and imagination, develops language and emotions, and strengthens relationships. We offer comfortable seating in our libraries where impromptu storytimes can take place, or you can check our events page to see whether there is a storytime scheduled.

Author Talks

Our libraries make for a great venue for author talks, and we have hosted some book release events in the past. If you are an author and would like to come to our libraries to talk about your book, please get in touch with us on 03 418 1677 or email clutha.library@cluthadc.govt.nz

If you are interested in attending an author talk, keep an eye on our events page and Facebook page.

Book Clubs

We are venue to multiple book clubs in the district that meet monthly, where readers talk about what they have read and give recommendations. You can check our events page to see if there is a book club near you coming up, or talk to the staff in our branch if you are interested in starting a book club.
