Two of our local newspapers are available digitally on PapersPast (https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/). The Clutha Leader from 1874-1920 and the Bruce Herald 1865-1920.
We have the Clutha Leader available on microfilm at the Balclutha Community Library from July 1974 - Dec 1954 and July 1955 - Dec 1971, and physical copies from May 1988 to today. The South Otago Museum holds physical copies of the years we are missing.
We also hold physical copies of the Newslink from 1995-1999.
To access back issues or microfilm copies of newspapers ask at the library desk. Note some individual issues may be missing.
It is free to access all newspaper holdings. Photocopies or microfilm printouts cost 20c per A4 page side. Information from the microfilm reader can be transferred onto your pen drive free of cost.
