Library Membership

Loans

Borrowing: All items are issued for three weeks and there is no limit to how many items can be borrowed at any one time.

Renewals: Items can be renewed online, in person, or over the phone. After two renewals, bring the items to the library to extend the loan further. Renewal is not allowed if the item is on reserve for another borrower.

Reservations: If an item is listed on our catalogue but is on loan or held at another branch we can hold it for you on its return, or bring it to your local branch for free. We will email you when the item is available.

Overdue items: Please return or renew your loans by the due date. We will email you a reminder and two times after the item is due. A letter will be sent out with the replacement cost if we have not received the item back. All fees are removed when the item is returned. If you do not have an email address registered with us you may only receive the written letter.

Interlibrary loans

If a book is not available from our collection, we can often borrow it for you from another New Zealand Library for a base fee of $7 (the borrowing library may add extra costs). To get started find the book on the following site: https://natlib.govt.nz/librarians/te-puna/te-puna-search and then email us on clutha.library@cluthadc.govt.nz or visit us in the library to place your request.

Housebound and Hospital Services

Library books, DVDs, and puzzles can be selected and delivered to people unable to visit the library themselves due to illness or disability. A regular delivery service is also made to the residential homes and day hospital. Please contact your nearest library in person or by phone if you wish to be included in this service, or know someone who would benefit from it.

Click and Collect

We offer a Click and Collect service to those that are not comfortable coming into our libraries, or who may be isolating at home due to sickness. For this you can either choose your own books, or we can select these for you. Start by either calling your local library to arrange, or fill in the following form to get started: click and collect form.
